Invacare Storm4 - Simply the best fit!
June the 22nd, 2009
For the best fit yet, try the Invacare Storm4
Invacare is delighted to announce the launch of the new Storm4 power chair – a highly configurable and stylish wheelchair designed to satisfy the needs of the most demanding users.
The chairs have been introduced to customers in most of the European countries during fairs and exhibitions the past few months, and a wide majority will start launching the Invacare Storm4 in July.
A tradition of success
The first Storm wheelchair was introduced in 1996 and has since become an industry standard, leading the way in the outdoor/indoor segment. By employing the latest technologies and offering the typical Invacare combination of safety and style, the new Storm4 continues this tradition of success.
Our motto: “easy-to-deal-with”
Thanks to its modular design, many aspects of the chair can be customised to user needs. The choice of motor can be done according to dominant requirements, be it for outdoor or indoor use.
Services and maintenances are rendered trouble-free thanks to easy access to batteries and electronics. No extra parts are required for adjustments of the seat, and one tool will suffice for most modifications. The new ACS II electronics family has been enlarged and provides a seamless up-and-down gradability for different user needs.
Day-to-day manoeuvres have been made easier for both users and carers as the Storm4 features an extra-low seat height of 40 cm for easy access to tables.
All these features support the Storm4 motto; ‘Easy-to-deal-with’.
Show off your sense of style!
The Storm4 offers excellent driving features and a range of cushion types, head and arm rests for a truly personalised configuration. Style-conscious users can further customise their chair with a range of coloured shrouds, different fabric coverings for the seat, back and arm rests. The tilt-in-space mechanism adds extra comfort and promotes good decubitus prophylaxis. Strong, bright LED lights not only add a contemporary, aesthetic touch but contribute to driving safety.
Stylish to look at and a pleasure to drive, this latest addition to our power chair range is certainly going down a storm!

A gift for life

Invacare’s new scooter Comet deals some magic with a young girl in New Zealand
A very shy but clearly overwhelmed girl made her way to the front and took her place behind the wheel. Her name is Sandi and she is nine years old. However, Sandi is sick, she has a brain tumour. But as with any feisty nine year old she wants to hang out with her friends without Mum or Dad having to be there to support her less than steady wee legs.
It is for this reason that Sandi has received Invacare’s new scooter Comet thanks to Invacare and the Variety Club of New Zealand. The Variety Club is a charity that seeks to bring a change in the lives of those who are less fortunate.
With courage and determination, Sandi pulled the lever for the first ride on her new scooter, painted in her favourite colour, British racing green.
“It is people like you who show incredible generosity and love that make the tough time easier to take” Sandi’s
mother said in this amazing moment with watery eyes. Sandi’s magic moment was shared by her parents and some friends who were all almost in tears.
Invacare and the Variety Club are proud and glad to show how much people are touched by life’s gifts, and how Invacare’s goal tries to make life easier - to give it some quality. Sandi squeaked a tiny “thank you” in the microphone, and as they were about to take the microphone away from her, she pulled it back and said “very very much”.

Invacare XPO2 is approved by FAA (USA) for airline travel
February the 5th, 2009
In the USA, the Federal Aviation Administration SFAR No. 106 has been amended to include the Invacare® XPO2™ portable concentrator for use onboard passenger aircraft.
The XPO2 combines the reliability and durability providers want with the clinical performance patients need to stay oxygenated during use. Now that the XPO2 has been approved by the FAA, Invacare will approach individual airlines for their approvals regarding in-flight use of oxygen systems.
This new portable concentrator weighs only 2.9 kg and incorporates Sensi-Pulse™ technology, an innovative five-setting pulse dose oxygen delivery system that keeps oxygen patients saturated during all activities of daily living. It operates from battery, AC or DC power. The two-and-a-half hour battery duration (at setting 2) may be doubled to five hours through the use of an optional supplemental battery that attaches easily to the carrying case. Other features include quiet, simple operation, and a contemporary, non-medical look, all of which are very important to oxygen patients.
